April Meeting

Tonight was our April meeting which Cori hosted. I'm bummed, because I only made it for about an hour of the meeting. I have a tradition of going to Opening day of the Loons, and it fell the same day as Book Club! I don't know what they had for dinner, but I got there in time for some great conversation and discussion about Cori's book choices...

The Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux

I absolutely loved this book. I have to admit something now, I've been a book snob. I've judged by the covers, and this was an author that never peaked my interest. Friends Through Pages has opened my eyes to so many new authors, and I can honestly say there hasn't been a single book that I've hated. There have been a very small few that I struggled with. This book and author took me by surprise, and she will definitely be added into my list of books to read when I'm searching for a fast read.

The idea of going back into time and having the choice to make changes in your life, then to either remember the trip or forget everything that happened. I would take that trip, and I would go back to before my Uncle was killed, and I would change that small point in history. He would live and my family would survive the ordeal. Maybe we'd be a closer family? I know I could erase some of the hurt and depression, and maybe I would be a little less serious and enjoy those teenage years. Everything else that I've went through has brought me to this point in my life, to happiness and love.

It was an amazing read, and I strongly recommend it.

The Mulberry Tree by Jude Deveraux

After a fast read on the other book, I was hooked immediately with this one. I watched a woman struggle to get through some tough times, and make something of her wrecked life. It showed if you try hard, you can overcome anything.

I wish I had more to tell about the meeting, we have so many laughs. I'll be at the entire next meeting, since it's at my house.

Happy Reading!
